New Drug Sales Point Dismantled in Santa Fe

The authorities in Santa Fe continue to advance in the fight against drug trafficking, identifying and pursuing those responsible through raids to face charges for drug-related offenses.

The dismantling of a new drug sales point in the province was carried out under the Microtrafficking Law, approved by the provincial legislature at the end of 2023 and enacted by Governor Maximiliano Pullaro at the beginning of his term. This law grants local prosecutors the authority to investigate and prosecute "microtrafficking" or "narcotrafficking," previously under the jurisdiction of Federal Justice.

The Secretary of Public Security of the Ministry of Justice and Security of Santa Fe, Omar Pereira, accompanied by prosecutor Natalia Benvenuto, supervised the operation that took place in the town of Puerto General San Martín, as part of a joint operation between various entities.

Pereira emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and Security, the Public Ministry, and the Police to prevent the proliferation of drug trade and reduce violence in the community. The intervention is part of the second phase of the microtrafficking policy, which aims to act on crime hotspots to provide greater security to residents.

Prosecutor Benvenuto explained that the investigation, initiated as a result of complaints from neighbors about drug trafficking activities in the area, is carried out by the microtrafficking team of the Public Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of addressing the violence caused by drug sales in the affected neighborhoods.

In this context, authorities highlight the importance of citizen participation in reporting illegal activities that affect community safety and well-being, emphasizing the need for coordinated action to combat drug trafficking and its negative effects on society.
